Labelflash™ェ User FAQ

For those who have never used Labelflash™

What is Labelflash™

What is Labelflash™
YAMAHA CORPORATION and FUJIFILM Corporation jointly developed Labelflash™ technology. With a drive compatible with the latest developed laser control technologies and a special disc with a dye layer on the disc labeling side, images can be directly burned using the same laser used for data recording.
All you need is a Labelflash™-compliant drive and disc, eliminating the need for printers. Images last longer since the image surface is not exposed and cannot be touched directly. These two points make Labelflash™ the smarter choice.
Can images be rewritten on the Labelflash™ surface?
No. Currently, Labelflash™ technology allows for one time write only and is not erasable.
How long does Labelflash™ take to complete?
The time it takes to burn varies depending on the drive and the software used. The standard length of time required is between 5 (draft mode) and 20 minutes (high-quality mode).
What is the difference between a Labelflash™ disc and an inkjet printable disc?
The difference between a Labelflash™ disc and an inkjet printable disc is that a Labelflash™ disc can be printed on without using a printer. The major advantages of this are, ① no printers or consumables such as ink are required, ② no troublesome setting up of a printer is required, ③ you don't have to wait for the ink to dry, and ④, there is no ink-bleeding.
Are there any other colors available besides blue?
Not at the present time. However, research is being conducted on colors other than blue.

How to better use Labelflash™

How can I burn pictures/drawings that I created myself?
Upload the picture or drawing to your PC, then use a Labelflash™-compatible software to align and burn it onto the disc. For further details, refer to the instruction manual of the software used, or get in touch with the support contact for the software.
How does length of time to burn the image affect the overall quality?
There are three modes draft mode (approx. 5 min.), normal mode (approx. 10 min.), and high-quality mode (approx. 20 min.) The more time taken to burn the image, the better the contrast will be. However, there is not a noticeable difference beyond 20 minutes.
Actual writing modes and times may vary depending on the software used. Be sure to check the display and instruction manual of the software.
How should I store media that I have burned?
Store the media in the same way that you would a normal DVD. Insert it into a case, and store it in normal temperatures and humidity (15°C~25°C, humidity of 40%~60%) and in a location with as little dust as possible and away from direct sunlight.
* These are the recommended storage conditions given by the Japan Recording-Media Industries Association (JRIA).
